Automate Status change from To Do to In Progress when Time is Allocated to a Task

Is it possible to automatically change the Status of a Task from To Do to In Progress when time has been allocated to the Task? If so, please advise as to how to configure this functionality. Thank you.

with a plugin like Scriptrunner you can use a post function to make another conditional transition.

As an example

JIRA Miscellaneous Workflow Extensions has a post function to perform another transition on the issue.

and you are able to set a condition to test before performing the transition.

In Adaptvist Scriptrunner you have a similar post function to transition an issue.
