Automatically extend end date if task is not compete/closed

We have Big Picture in and working within our team, but I am currently spending alot of time manageing the dates entered for the various tasks where we have not completed a task when we planned to.

I have taken a baseline at the start of the project but managing the actual is proving difficult as the end dates used by Big Picture do not update to reflect what is actually happening.

Is it possible to configure the software to do this?

Another approach you may try (in case you log time against tasks) is mapping the "Time spent + Remaining estimate" to the End date field.

Then, when estimating tasks, they'd be given the same value for the remaining estimate, right? So, for example, a task has the original estimate of 5 days and same for the remaining estimate. Further, if it happens to resources they couldn't make it in 5 days and they've logged 8 days of work, the task bar would be automatically stretched.

Would something like this work for you?

you could create a JQL search for open issues with "due date < today"

then make a bulk change and increase the due date.

or fully automated with some jira addons like automation for jira or scriptrunner.
