I have some automation rules to notify a distribution list and MS Teams channel when an issue is moved to a specific status. Since 20/07 the email notification stopped working.
I've sent an email to that distribution list from my local email client and it works fine. So apparently it happens when Jira sends it.
Does anyone know what could cause that?
Has your automation rule changed recently?
The only other postings I saw similar to this symptom were when invalid special characters were entered in the From Name field (under more options) for sending the email or when the recipient email addresses were not valid.

No, we didn't change anything on automation rules for sure. The "From name" field is empty.

Thank you for that information. In that case, I would recommend submitting a ticket to Atlassian support. As site admin for a standard cloud instance, you should be able to do that here: https://support.atlassian.com/contact/#/

I was having the same issue when trying to send email notification to email groups. The solution was a setting in the email server to allow these groups to receive updates from outside of the company domain. Hope this helps!
