Avg age chart - How is it calculated?

JP November 11, 2021

Hi, I have an avg age chart that is looking at specific team members, so the avg number of days it took for that team member to close a ticket.

Which is grouped by week looking back the last 90 days.

I'm wondering if a team member has a ticket open for several weeks - how does it affect the avg? Does it count towards the week it was closed? Or the week it was opened? Or how should I think about this?

Would appreciate some light in this matter:)

Thanks!

Hi @JP !

There is a special article for that question:

How is the Jira average age report calculated?

Hope it helps.

Thanks for the article! It helped a bit – but it didn’t provide any examples so it’s still a bit confusing. Does PeriodEndDate refer to the end day of the chosen period then? In my case every Friday of the week?

So it picks the lowest date between ResolutionDate and PeriodEndDate, which will always be ResolutionDate unless it’s a Friday and counts the days it took to complete that issue towards the week of the ResolutionDate. Is that correctly understood?
