Hi,

I have a lot of users that have the ability to change workflow and wanted to set up a back up in case one of them were to mess something up like in the work flow or if they changed a bunch of things. is there anyway to do a weekly back up so that if something was changed it could be restored to the previous settings?

Thanks,

Jon, hi!

Workflows are stored into DB buckps, ad into xml ones.

So, you can restore Jira on test insatance to get previous version of WF.

Also it is possible to export/import WF via xml.

Best regards,

Vasiliy

Hi,  im sorry, what is DB back ups? you mean that if someone wrongly changed or deleted a workflow you can find the past workflow and restore it? How about if fields where wrongly changed or a product and all its issues and automations were deleted. is there any way to have a back up to restore it/prevent the everything from being lost?

I found the BAck up Manager in the system settings but how does that work?

is this only for server? it seems the fields and verbiage doesn't match on my jira.

When I do the back up I get a zip file that has two XML documents. so if you wanted to restore the system you would use these files and go to "restore System" under system and import and export? Do these XML files contain everything in the existing system?

Jon,

XML backup contains all information from Jira.

If you want to restore only single workwlow you should restore it OTHER instance of jira and then export/import this WF via XML.
