Hello, Jira experts,
I want to create sprint backlogs (or list of tasks) and backdated the following dates
then I want to display the results on a burnup chart.
Is this possible in Jira?
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Moe
Hi @Mo Hussein
A burnup chart is used to display the progress of issues in Jira using either story points or original estimate.
For your requirement where you need to track the dates, build a JQL like this and display the fields Start Date (planned), Due Date (planned)
sprint = sprint-name (you can restrict the issues to a project or issue types by including respective JQL fields)
and save the filter
The actual start date and end date of Sprint can be obtained from the Sprint report (which can be copied to a custom field using Automation)
Combining all these fields, build a dashboard using the issue filters gadget!!
Let me know if you have any queries
Thanks
Hello, @Pramodh M
Thank you for your response.
I want to make sure that I explained what I am trying to do clearly and also that I understood your suggested approach correctly.
I would like to build a regular burnup chart similar to the one shown in the image below. The x-axis represents the dates and the y-axis represents the story points.
The only thing is that I want to develop these burnup charts for sprints that have already occurred in the past. I am doing that for research purpose.
Would I be able to import to Jira the sprint backlogs which include the user stories and their associated dates (all dates are in the past) and then develop burnup charts similar to the one shown below?
Thank you again for your help!
Moe

I tried to create a burnup chart in Jira but it seems that there's no option to change the dates to do some retro analysis for completed sprints.
