Broken Hyperlinks in Custom Fields

Hyperlinks in our custom fields recently (within the last few weeks) stopped working. Does anyone know how to fix this?
In the mocked-up example shown below, they're using the Short text field, which is how we have it on our board. They've been working for nearly a year (or longer) and then just stopped working, requiring the user to copy/paste from the field to the address bar.

Hey Pat,

The links entered in text fields should work like hyperlinks normally. One of the possible reasons it shows up as a text is there are some extra spaces at the beginning or end of the URL in the text field.

Please verify that there are no extra spaces in the text field that contains the URL.

Confirmed. There aren't any extra spaces. Links that worked for months suddenly stopped working across all of our epics.

Hey Pat,

Any recent changes? Does the field include other text as well apart from a URL?

If your field contains both text as well as a URL, the entire thing is considered as a normal text. I'm not sure of the past behaviour though.

No recent changes made by us. 

The fields don't contain anything other than the URLs.
