I attached the wrong document to a task which I then cloned and updated about 40 times. Is there a way to do a bulk edit and delete the existing attachment and upload the new attachment?
this is not possible OOTB. You might check the marketplace for Apps.
thank you

Standard Atlassian answer. You bought a car. Want tires? Check marketplace for it. :-(

Hi @Bernd Schneider , just to be clear I don’t work for Atlassian. I’m a customer like others here. That may or may not be clear. With that said it very likely is possible CTO achieve this via the APIs so I wanted to add that thought. I certainly see this as a corner case and as such not something that would warrant a UI solution, IMO.

No worries. I never accuse anyone personally, and of course no one of the community. It's just that I read the phrase "no, we don't - check marketplace" for obviously missing functionality so often.

Yep understand and there are a number of times that I have seen functionality available in Apps that I really believe should be part of Jira. I guess the one upside of the marketplace is that at least there are options out there for additional functionality.
