Can I clear votes from all issues in a project?

Unnati Patel January 14, 2019

Hi,

My use case - I would like to send out a list of prioritized issues to my team every other week. They will get 5 votes and after I've tallied them I would like to clear out all the votes and start over.

Is this possible in jira or is there a app that would help me do this?

Thanks,

Unni

Hello Unnati,

Unfortunately, it is not possible to clear votes of a JIRA issue on the Cloud platform. There is a feature request opened to implement this functionality:

Manage (at least clear) voters of a ticket as project administrator

Also, feel free to watch and vote on the feature request to increase its priority and receive notifications about any updates.

That been said, I think the Vote feature was not created to be applied as you are intended, however, I believe you should be able to achieve the same functionality using a flag list (multiple choice) Custom field.

Since you must have a limit of 5 votes per issue, you can simply configure your list with 5 options to be flagged, each one representing one vote.

You can check how you can add a custom field in the documentation below:

Adding, editing, and deleting a custom field

Please, let me know if it works for you.

Hi. thank you for the response.

No it's not 5 votes per issue.. 5 votes per user. So say I have a team of 40+ people and I want each user to be able to vote for issues that they think are most important. They get to vote for new issues every week, once the votes are tallied... they will be cleared so that next week's tallying isn't impacted by the votes from last week.
