Can I create a column in backlog but not show issues within the sprint?

Karol Frączkowski June 18, 2018

The deal is, that I've added a PAUSED status in the workflow that all other transition can go back to. The issue is that I don't want to have PAUSED issues in the active sprint but on the other hand store them in a new column in the backlog. Is it possible? So far I could not find the answer, hence question here, I will very much appreciate any kind of help, thanks!

Hi @Karol Frączkowski,

if you remove the paused status from the board, the paused issues will also be removed from the board. That means, they also disappear from the backlog. Could you please explain a little bit more what you mean by "backlog column"?

I would use a quickfilter to hide the paused issues. They are still there, but you can't see them anymore.

Thank you a quick response, appreciate it! The idea behind is that we would like to see some sort of additional column in the backlog where we could store issues with PAUSED status, however, we do not want them to be visible in the active sprint.

I see, but there is nothing like that. You can filter them out with the quickfilter on your taskboard.

On the dashboard, I would set another filter that only shows the paused issues.

Got it! Thanks a lot, I will speak with the client and set the filter on the dashboard, is it possible to create such a filter without any additional extensions in Jira?

yes, this is plain Jira
