Can I set a default value for project and issue type when selecting Create?

Natasja Jordaan May 10, 2019

When any user clicks Create I want the default project and issue type to be set and not to default to last used project or issue.

I'm running server based Jira v7.12.3

Hello Natasja,

Actually, the expected behavior is that the default issue type should be always the first option when creating a new issue, however, there's a bug in the application which is causing the last used issue type to be selected instead of the default.

Although we don't have any workaround for the bug at this moment, I would like to kindly ask you to watch the bug in order to increase its priority and also receive notifications about any updates:

The default issue type is not taken into account

Additionally, we have an internal project to add the fix for this issue in the new issue view experience. Once it's completed, we will let you know through the bug report.

Let me know if you still have any questions and have a nice weekend!

Thank you Petterson.

Please confirm the timelines for the fix and which Jira versions the fix will apply to.

Have a good week.

Hello Natasja,

Unfortunately, our development team does not have a specific date to determine when this approach will be implemented, however, it is planned for the last quarter of 2019.

Also, the fix should be implemented in the last version of JIRA Server and on JIRA cloud.
