Can I use my link / use my sprints in the Release

michal.fiech November 28, 2019

Hey there,

I'm just setting up the project and board for me and my team. Some questions appeared that I couldn't find an answer to.

We want to try out 6-weeks projects that consist of a number of sprints. So at the beginning of the project, we're choosing a number of features/experiments/tasks we want to deliver in that period.

During this 6-weeks we'll work in (let's say) three 2-weeks sprints.

I've already read articles here about the Sprints and Releases functionalities and I can understand what they are for and how they work.

However, one question I couldn't answer is if I can "attach" those Sprints to the Release. Or at least attach to the Release the Epics I want to deliver in this period.

Any suggestions on how I could do that? Or some alternatives to achieve it?

Thanks,

Michal

Hi @michal.fiech

You can only have issues within a release, rather than a Sprint itself. You could simply add all the issues from a sprint into a specific release, which will provide you a similar effect.

You'll need to ensure the version is created and if you want to add it from a Story's issue detail view, the field "FixVersion" will need to be on that issue screen.

That should also work for Epics if you prefer - add the FixVersion field and you can add them into releases - although this would just be the specific Epic, rather than all its subordinates.

Hey Stephen!
Putting there the Epics or Features would do the work for me I guess.
Thanks for the answer!
