Can multiple issue sources be assigned to a team in Advanced Roadmaps?

Resignola, Kelly July 19, 2023

We have 10 Jira projects of which one team can take work.  Can multiple issue sources be assigned to a team in Advanced Roadmaps?

Hi @Resignola, Kelly,

Not in the Team settings. One team can only have one issue source there.

You can always build a filter or a specific board that brings the issues for a team together and then use that filter or board as the issue source for the team.

In practice, it is a good idea to have a single board for a single team in Jira - even if you are not using Advanced Roadmaps at all. It ensures that your team can work from a single source of truth when it comes to planning and daily operations.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, Walter.  I'm new to Advanced Roadmaps.  I'm trying to prioritize the work within teams as well as manage capacity by team.  All of the work spans 10 projects.  All of the Initiatives and Epics show in the Sprint Capacity Management view.  The ones that are greyed out are assigned a team that doesn't have the particular issue source assigned.

  1. Do you know if all of the team's capacity is spread across the initiatives that have planned start and planned end dates for all 10 projects (issue sources) or only for the initiatives within their assigned issue source?
  2. I considered creating a team per project, i.e. <project name>:<team> and assigning work to corresponding project.  The only con is that we have to do it for 42 teams for 10 projects.
  3. Is there a better way to accomplish what I'm trying to do?
