I've been looking into https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/how-to-fix-gadget-titles-showing-as-__msg_gadget-813697086.html where the proxy steps are detailed. Wouldn't allowing to alter the URL to a the localhost's JIRA instance solve this, instead of us having to locally proxy all affected ports / routings back towards the instance?
