Can't configure fields layout

I need the Time Spent field to show on the main view of the ticket. Currently, the time spent can only be added if I click the edit button. 

Wanted to add this field in the settings for the scrum board but it's not there. 
"Some fields may be hidden, depending on the field configuration scheme used for the project's issue types." Already spent two days trying to do it but without any success and I couldn't' find a clear step-by-step explanation on how to do it.

I've also had trouble with this! The way I've done this is go to your board, then on the top right, there's a little gray button that says "Board" with a dropdown menu. Click that, then click "Configure." Then, click on "Issue Detail View." You should be able to add in the "Time Spent" field that way.

thank you, but unfortunately the required field is not on this list, I mean it's not available so can't be added

If it is not there, then click on the Where's my field? button to track down why it is not there. It is either not attached to the screen or is not in context for the project (and/or issue type).

John, the problem is that this field is not available here, in the issue detail view in the board settings:

Is this a Next-gen project? Or Classic Software Project?
