Hello everyone,
One of my customers has reported that he can't see the description of his tickets and searching for a solution I always come accross changing something in Project Settings > Issue Layout. But there is no option 'Issue layout' to choose from. Has this been moved or renamed?
Thanks for any help you might give me.
Best wishes,
Hans
Hi @Hans Baas ,
Is it a Team managed project or Company managed?
Team managed- https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/customize-an-issues-fields-in-team-managed-projects/
Company managed- https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/configure-issue-layout/
It is actually of the type 'Service Management'
I have found what I was looking for though; by going to Project settings > Request types I can edit the Request form by adding the Description field and saving.
Thanks for your help; you pointed me in the right direction!

This is not solved, it's a bug because it's written "You can configure the order of fields and tabs in a project by going to Project settings > Issue layout ."
But there is no "Issue layout" in Project settings.
I reported it as a bug (aka I submited a Support Request and hope they'll file it as a bug, since we can't actually report bugs ourselves).

It's the same problem in Jira, it's not just in JSM.
When you go to "https://<MYSITE>/jira/settings/issues/screen" and click on the screen you want to edit (https://<MYSITE>/secure/admin/ConfigureFieldScreen.jspa), it says that
But "Issue layout" doesn't exist under "Project settings"!
Also, when you enter "Issue layout" in the "Search Jira admin" button on the top right, there's also no information.
This is very annoying.
After hours of searching (multiple times because I found it and then forgot), I figured where they moved it in the menu, and found a shortcut.
It should say "You can configure the order of fields and tabs in a project by going to Project settings > Issues > Layout and selecting 'Edit issue layout' on the issue type you want to edit (or just click on 'Configure' button at the bottom right in the ticket view)".

Or better yet, just add a link to the mythical "Issue layout" there.
You have a link FROM the Issue layout page back to the "Configure Screen" page, why not have a link back? We go back-and-forth all the time, it's quite silly there's only a link for one direction.

Also, you could link to this documentation in both the "Configure Screen" page and the "Issue layout" page

Based on the customer's analysis, we opened a Feature Request to improve the navigation and documentation for configuring the issue layout in Jira Software: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-84853
