Can you change the language of Jira Log-in and Log-out pages?

Hello,

Our Jira has users that use different languages and Jira translates itself when they login. But, the welcome page and log out page are always in Jira's default language. Is there any way to modify this?

Not really. Until someone logs in, Jira has no way of knowing what language it should display for any given user. So it uses the system default.

How would you suggest it works out what language to display for an unknown user?

I thought of that, but maybe there was some kind of workaround. Some webpages have a button to translate them without loggin in, but maybe this would make too many chages globally? Or could it be possible to modify the language of this page without taking into account Jira's default language?

That would be quite a good solution - having a little row of flags or language indicators on the login box to get it to swap language. Atlassian has it logged under https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-12847- by the way, the comments make it look like it was closed (by being inactive and far too low on the list of priorities), but it has since been re-opened, so there is some hope. Comment, watch and vote on it!

"Jira has no way of knowing what language it should display for any given user" ... well, are you saying, that JIRA developers don't know that Accept-Language is sent HTTP request in all modern browsers? This is something, that should have been solved long time ago...

And is robustly ignored by most applications, as it's often set incorrectly.

A pre-emptive load page with language selection prior to loading the login page would be ideal as a possible solution. Problem there is the language selection is stored in the user's profile as opposed to cookies I believe. 

For the logout page, the language of the page post logout should be based on the users selected language. This one should be possible as the language selection is known prior to the user selecting the logout option.
