Cannot change reporter, only assignee field is editable.

I am site admin and I have added myself to all the groups to make sure I have access to everything and not missing out on something. But still, I have created a new epic. and I cannot change the reporter field for an individual task/epic. I do not want to use bulk change options, but only change reporters (created by me or other members) if I see something is wrong with that individual project.

Check the permissions for the project - are you named (via name, group, role, etc) as someone who has "edit reporter" permission?

Right,  it was under "Default software scheme". I went through Project settings --> Actions --> Edit permissions --> Modify reporter --> Add group/person.

Then added myself to the permissions group.

You need Modifiy Reporter permission in order to change the Reporter.
