Cannot create Jira issues from the issue screen

It looks like currently it is no longer possible to create issues from the the view/search issue screen. However it works fine from the dashboard, settings, backlog and projects pages.

Is there a fix for this?

We deployed a fix to help with the Activity Stream problem we were having and this issue has been fixed at the same time.
