Cannot delete all of my boards

MJ Admin June 19, 2020

When I go to 'View All Boards' I can't seem to delete some of the boards.

There should be a ... menu icon for each board (row), but it's not available for some of them. I deleted some projects but the boards still remain. Not sure if this is just a bug with JIRA.

Hello @MJ Admin,

Thanks for reaching out to Community!

Testing on my local site, I was able to confirm that, when the Screen Shot 2020-06-19 at 15.00.23.png menu is not visible, it is because the board is related to a next-gen project and it's expected that you can't delete.

I was able to replicate the same issue that you are facing, a project was deleted but the board is still visible on the list:

This issue is a known bug and the fix is already in progress:

Please, click on "This affects my team" and also on Watch so that you are notified when this is fixed.

Regards,
Angélica

HI MJ - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

If you are a Jira Systems Admin it should let you delete it.

Maybe go to the Project Settings for the project that the board uses and add yourself to the People function as a Project Admin. Then see if it will let you delete.

Same thing by adding yourself as a Board admin.

If those fail, I would open a support ticket with Atlassian to get some help.  :-)

The problem is that the projects have already been deleted. The boards are still there. There isn't a way to make myself board admin

You can't get to the Board Settings for the board?

Do you know the filter that the board uses? Maybe change ownership of the filter for the board to you?

Or do you know who created the board?

MJ Admin June 19, 2020

I created the board. I can't remove the board. Is this an issue?

Sounds like an issue to me, haha. Since you are on the Free plan, I will see if I can get an Atlassian to help you out.  ;-)

I also have the same issue.

I created a project using the new 'team owned' settings. I realised it didn't give me what I wanted so I created a new 'company owned' project, moved the tickets across and then deleted the original project.

But now I can't delete the board that was associated with it.

I don't have the elipses next the board name when I list the boards in order to delete them.

I am also on the free plan.

See @Angélica Luz 's answer above. You cannot delete that right now until the bug gets fixed.

@Angélica Luz  - any idea why this 2 1/2 year old bug has not been fixed?

Hi John,

There are no updates regarding this bug.

A few days ago they made some changes to the ticket and added internal comments, but nothing new that I could share here.

Kind regards,
Angélica
