Cannot move a sub-task up or down in the same column

Sonia July 25, 2023

I have a sub-task that i want to position at the top of the column, but it is not allowed. I can only move it to the next column. With a task it is possible. The workflow is the same. Am i missing a setting on this sub-task?

Hello @Sonia

Subtask will be followed by a task. Subtasks will be positioned as you will move their parent in the column up or down.

Thanks

Hi @Sonia

welcome to the community and thanks for your question.

A Sub-task is a special issue type that always needs a connection to the task it belongs to.

Could you please post a screenshot of your view?

Jira subtask.jpg

So sub-task TPD1365 in first column and we want to move this above TPD-159
Due that it is a sub-task we are then not allowed. So you an only move their parent (the task or Story).

Hi @Sonia

You should be able to drag a sub-task to the same status. It should than rank itself above another sub-task

It worked on my side in Cloud on a default Kanban project.

But this only works on sub-task linked to the same parent, you can rank sub-task differently based on different parents.
