I have a custom field named Zephyr Teststep. Someone installed a plug-in named Zephyr before I joined and I do not know if zephyr add-on and Zephyr test step custom filed are related in any way. I am creating an issue with test, defect, bug, story etc. as sub-type and my screen should include field Zephyr teststep. However i do not see it. Troubleshooting I did:
1.On create issue screen checked custom/all fields under configure fields..I dont see my desired filed
2.On the same screen if I click on where is my field, it says its should have been there but I cannot find it
I checked the associated screens and screenschemes this Zephyr teststep field is included. I do not understand what I am missing here. Please help.
I have enabled Custom fields for test steps at project level, however those field are not visible, how to make them visible ??

Hi Srikanth,
Before digging into this further, I recommend you and your team first determine what this custom field needs to be used for. If your organization has purchased the Zephyr for JIRA Server add-on, you already have the ability to create tests in your JIRA projects. These tests already have test steps available (along with fields to also document test data and expected results). As the tests are nothing other than an issue type in JIRA, you can link these tests to any other issue (Requirements, user stories, etc.)
Given this, is there a need for a separate custom test step field?
If you're not familiar with Zephyr for JIRA Server, i recommend you take a look at this brief video introducing Zephyr for JIRA.
Hope this helps clarify things.
Regards,
Sanjay

Hi Srikanth,
I have downloaded zephyr plugin in our hosted cloud instance.
When I add a custom field, I don't see the type "zephyr test step" in the type field.
Need help.

Were you able to add the Zephyr Testing field to your Test Issue? I don't know how either.
