In our kanban board we face the issue that our epics are shown following the order of their issue key
That makes often no sense and is confusing in our meeting when we walk through our epics and stories because it doesnt reflect the sequence respectively the hierarchy in which they have to be addressed
Is there a way of sorting the epic hierarchy manually in a way they are shown on the kanban board
Hi @Aswathi D
Welcome to the Atlassian Community.
can you please advise about the config you are using for swimlanes.
also in your board config under general, you would probably need to select "add rank" under Ranking section, however to give you more concrete answer how to address your request it would be better to see how you configured your swimlanes and to know if your board shows epics/stories only or to what level it includes tickets (substasks/bugs)

Hi @Aswathi D
i have double checked and in case you use Swimlanes based on Epics, the sequence of the Epics showing will be based on the Key, adding the Rank in your board query will help you organize the tasks under the Epics in a flexible way.

Hi @Aswathi D
in case you select swimlanes to show per Epic then the sequence of Epics in your board will be based on the Key only, and there is no way around it.
alternative solution, is to create swimlanes manually using query and have those queries based on priority which you can assign to each Epic and relevant child tasks accordingly. however, this will not show you the exact view you are after if you choose swimlanes based on epics.
also, based on the board filter query you shared this shall give you flexibility on ordering tickets under relevant epics in your board.
i hope the above helps.
