Changing Issue Type in Jira beta

Catherine Sutliff February 21, 2018

Newbie here!

A colleague set up a new project in the new Jira beta. Sure it is supposed to be simpler, but you lose functionality. The Settings are now limited to just Details and People. The issue is that when we try to create a new Issue, our only option for Issue Type is 'Story' - 'Bug' or 'Task' are not options in the dropdown. I can't change this in the Settings.

Does anyone know:

1) how to adjust the Issue Type settings in beta so I can move on and use the software.

or

2) how to move the project out of beta and back into the old form so I can move on ....

Thanks in advance.

@Catherine Sutliff, i'm guessing you mean the new Jira UI here. I'm unaware of any "beta". Assuming this is the case, I don't know of any loss of functionality off the top of my head and certainly not at the level of issue types. What type of project did the colleague set up. That might explain the default issue types created. In any event you can certainly add issue types if you are an admin.

see if this documentation helps.

Thanks for the quick reply. Here is clip of the header and settings list. Very limited.

I don't know how my colleague set up the project. It is listed with the rest of the projects as a software project. I am tempted to delete it and start again.

are you and admin? can you set up another SW project to see if you are getting same results. I'm a bit confused by the BETA label here to be honest. Are you on cloud or server instance?

I am admin - a new admin! - but an admin. I will try setting up a new one tomorrow and play with it a bit. Thanks

keep us posted here. glad to assist for sure.

I deleted the old project and created a new one. The new one didn't have the option to open in Beta or not. It created just like any other project with all the bells, whistles and options. So I'm good again. Luckily I hadn't added that much information to make recreating in was a problem. Thanks for everyone's input.
