Hi all,
Im upgrading Jira following this path 6.4.12 (actual version) > 7.0.11 > 7.12.1.
I wanted to clear the installation before goin on, but I didn't find an ufficial guide that explain how to do it.
It is safe if I delete this folders (after stopping jira, of course):
N.B. I don't need old exports or logs.
There's no need to "clean" anything before an upgrade. But for disk space, yes, you can clear some stuff out (and it's nice to get clean logs when upgrading too)
Do NOT remove any directories though, only look at the contents of them.
There's no point in emptying the caches, plugin or temporary directories either, Jira/Tomcat will just waste time putting everything back.
I would only clear out the log, import and export directories (if you are using the built-in backups, keep the latest one from the export directory of course).
There is at least two point to clean also others folders:
I think that Jira will recreate them in a clean way and I think that it could be a nice step to add in the official upgrade guide.

Ok, that's sensible as well. I would remove the unwanted plugin and its cached data before starting the upgrade though.

Ok, thanks for the reply.
My main concern was if there was something bad, but it seems ok from your responses.
