Hi all,

When I clone a Task, the cloned Task **does not appear on the board**.
However, I **can find it using the search bar or the filters on the left side**.

Quick filters are not enabled, and the board filter does not exclude it.
Has anyone experienced this issue or know why a cloned Task might not show on the board?

Hello @Neo Chen

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

If you are using a Scrum Board, a cloned issue will not appear on the Board if it doesn't belong to the Sprint.

This behavior is expected if the "Clone sprint values" option was not selected while cloning the issue. Since the issue does not belong to the Sprint, it won't be displayed on the Board.

Thank you!

Thank you for your explanation!
In my case, I am using a Kanban board in a Team-managed project, not Scrum. When I clone a task, it still goes to the backlog, and I can’t figure out why this happens. I already checked the Unassigned statuses section under Columns and statuses, but there is nothing there. Is there a way to identify what causes the cloned task to be placed in the backlog instead of appearing directly on the board?

Hey @Neo Chen

Thank you for sharing more details.

In a Team-managed project, when the Backlog feature is enabled, any newly created issue (including cloned issues) will appear under the Backlog. You can then , drag the issue from the Backlog to the Board.

However, if you prefer having the issues appear directly on the board upon creation, you can disable the Backlog feature from Project Settings > Features and toggle off Backlog.

You can read more about this in this document: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/enable-the-backlog/

I hope that helps!

Thank you

Thanks a lot for your help! I disabled the Backlog feature as you suggested, and now the cloned tasks appear directly on the board. This was exactly the part I was stuck on. Really appreciate your support!

Hello @Neo Chen

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

I understand that you cloned a Task, but it is not visible on the board.

Issues are visible on the board if they match the board filter and if their status is mapped to the board column.

Navigate to Board settings > Details and check the board filter. You can check the filter query and see if the issue/cloned Task is returned by that filter.

In the Board settings, navigate to Layout > Columns and see if the status Cloned Task is in, is mapped to the column present on the board.

Thank you!

I noticed that after cloning a task card, it appears in the backlog. My project is set up as Team-managed, and I can’t figure out why the cloned task ends up in the backlog instead of showing directly on the board.
