Hi,
I am trying to figure out the best way to set up a reoccurring process in Jira. It is an implementation for clients so it will have the same issues/tasks for each client.
From what I have read, I would need to get an Add-on in order to clone a project (this makes no sense to me why this isn't already a feature). I tried copying a board but it would link back to the same project and issues so that doesn't work as they are all tied together.
Can I create a new project for each client and then copy the issues from one project into a new project? Or do I have to get an Add-on for that as well?
Any other ideas would be helpful as I feel this is something that a software/project management system should have included instead of having to pay additionally.
Addons like The Scheduler (https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/pl.com.tt.jira.plugin.theschedulerpro/server/overview) are pretty powerful. You can set up many recurring tasks if you want. Those are not in the core product because not everything could be in a core product. That is why we install apps on our mobile phones and laptops. Everything is extendable now.
Cloning a project or board it is not a good idea. Better way would be to create a new parent issue and similar sub-tasks for that parent. There are also addons to create automatically few sub-tasks like Quick Subtasks for JIRA (https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.hascode.plugin.jira-quick-subtasks/server/overview) which allow include the rule in transition so that all issue would be created in a single click! :) .. And this is a free addon, so sometimes you do not need to pay if some features satisfy your needs.
Thanks for your reply. I'm just starting setting this up so having others perspective on the best way to do so is very helpful. I'd hate to set it up and then 2 months later it doesn't work out and I'm back to square one.
Quick question, what would you recommend of an add-on for tasks/issues for cloud?

I am not seeing yet the whole picture in order to recommend the best solution or add-on. Would you like to share some details about what you want to achieve? (how many customers/task you have and want to create.. how often.. etc.)

It ranges on the number of clients that are going throw implementation at any one time but at the present moment I have 5.
So I have 5 clients that I need to run through our implementation process. We have a checklist already (not on Jira) with 16 items and then sub-items in those and I would like to be able to see what they have completed and what is outstanding based on the checklist. I would like to take the checklist and enter those items somehow into Jira, as a project and issues, as a checklist in an issue for each client. I'm really not sure as I can see pros and cons for each.
I would need to recreate this process/checklist many times a month for different clients so duplicating it is essential.
