Close and Start Sprint option inactive.

Terry Busken June 8, 2023

Team, after 27 - 3-week Sprints, The Close Sprint & Start Sprint has been deactivated.

How do I get those 2 functions reactivated?  TIA.

Hi @Terry Busken ,

It could happen due to many reasons:

1- Check your access, You should have admin access to the particular board and project as well.

2- Check the project permissions.

3- If Sprint has issues from a different project then you should have admin access on other projects as well.

You can use the JQL like- SPrint = Sprint1 and Project != "current project"

Then it will show you the issues which are tagged in a sprint from other projects.

Looks like a project may have been added to our project and I don't have permissions for that board.

Okay, That could be the reason ask admin to grant you the permission then check.

Hi @Terry Busken welcome to the community.  What happens when you try to close your active sprint?  Do you have any blocking conditions that would prevent this?  Has anyone made any changes to the permission scheme?

Terry Busken June 8, 2023

Permissions haven't changed. While in the backlog section of Jira the Open Sprint is greyed out like its inactive.  The Close Sprint is greyed out like its inactive on the Active Sprint page.   To the best of my knowledge all conditions have been met,
