Why the hell is it that when I attach a file to a comment, it automatically gets attached to the ticket? Do you have any idea how insane this is? It shows Atlassian has no concept of work management or relationality. I mean seriously, this is rediculout, it makes the software unusable for it's intended purpose. I've never been so pissed off at a software manufacture... I mean how stupid can you be!
Hi, I know it might be frustrating, but I don't believe this is the way of reporting something that might be a problem for you.
In our team, we also share screenshots and images to comments, and even though they are being automatically added to the attachments sections, we work by reading through the comments.
Everything has a way of working around it, and no software is answering 100% of all their user's needs.
You can always suggest an improvement, but calling people who develop tools stupid is not the proper way.
I'm not defending Atlassian but they do have a quite open way of receiving new feature proposals, and they are usually very quick to respond.
"Everything has a way of working around it, and no software is answering 100% of all their user's needs."
- I disagree completely. There are many solid software packages that meet every imaginable need for the subject they serve: MS word, MySQL, Adobe Photoshop... all fully provide the needs of the user for the subject at hand... if any of these packages acted like Jira, they never would be respected or used in production.
I am seeing so much unpredictable behavior in Jira it's completely unreliable.
For example, in a ticket when I highlight the word "NO" red and save the red disappears. My bullet points constantly change from a bullet to ** or *** when I save. It's like they just gave up and stopped developing there text formatting tools and, rather than remove text formatting all together so the software is predictable, they just gave up and left it broken... it's been this way for YEARS!
The lack of understanding that there is absolutely a huge distinction between a comment attachment and a ticket is inexcusable IMHO, this isn't a preference it is a fact.... you might attach a screenshot to a comment or activity proving a test was performed... who in their right might would think its appropriate to put that with ticket declaration attachments like procedures.
