I have a bunch of custom fields and I would like to change the configuration in the edit or view screen. Under the edit or view screen > I select configure > and all the fields appear either under Description Fields or Context Fields.
I am not sure how Jira selects the fields to go under these categories because I certantly did not configure this option. Also, I can change the display order under each category - but I cannot move a custom field i.e.: from Context Fields group to Description Fields group.
How can I configure a custom field to be in either group according to my preference? Where is this configured since the Issue Layout window does not allow this?
Hi @Edvin Beqari if you have different Edit and View Screen, you can change position of fields as per your requirement . Simply by drag and drop the field.
Do you want to configure field according to user group ?
Thank you for your reply. I want to take a field from Context and move it to Description. Jira won't let me place them into the other box. I am limited to only changing the order in the existing box.

As an example lets say I have the following layout below.
Under Description Fields:
Under Context Fields:
I want to to take custom_field_c and move it to Description Fields. My final layout will look as follows.
Under Description Fields:
Under Context Fields:
I hope this is clearer.
