Configuring an automation rule notification for a specific user?

Is there a way for configuring an automation rule notification for a specific user?

I noticed that emails notification was available, only for groups or assignee/reporter.

Its certainly possible in cloud.

Another option may be to create a group just to wrap the user you want to send to.

Roles are not offered as an option in automation.

If I remember correctly, on server, Automation for Jira has the option to publish an issue event. You can create a custom event and add it to your notification scheme. The notification scheme will allow you to link that event to a role and a standard notification type e.g. issue updated.

You won't be able to easily customise the email content for this type of email as it's deep in the server velocity scripts.
