Confluence vs X wiki

Hi community,

We use Confluence for documentation sharing and joint work on different docs.

Recently I was informed about XWiki - free tool. Furthermore, there is a task on me to investigate the pros and cons in order to decide to move/or not from Confluence to Xwiki.

What are your thought on this? Do you advise doing so and why? Have you ever worked with this tool? I will appreciate if you share your hands on experience with me.

Thank you.

Lena

Hello @Lena Sargsyan

Personally I have only been using Confluence due to the flexibility and easy to use features.

I've never used Xwiki. Why you were given this task if you don't me asking? I will keep it short on Confluence.

Confluence is a collaborative tool focused on documentation. It offers lots of features:

  • Creating your own spaces with pages and managing them and customizing them
  • Leveraging AI and use it for extra customizaiton of your pages (example brainstorming a page about software development life cycle, summrizing text, etc.)
  • Confluence allows you to write blogs as well and customize them based on your preferences
  • It offers whiteboards that you can import directly to your pages - this is perfect for Product Managers and Scrum Masters
  • It gives you templates that you can use to create content without having to do everything from scratch
  • You can use confluence macros (pre-installed mini apps that allow you to add more functionalities to your pages)
