Hello,
I have been trying to copy components from Epic and add components upon story creation from a manually triggered automation.
I inspired my thinking from this tread : https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-Software-questions/In-Jira-Automation-how-do-I-add-to-a-component-and-not-clear-the/qaq-p/2194124
I feel I am over thinking this, as this can be done with labels on cloud, and if i remember properly, can also be done natively on server.
I feel this is a super normal and common use case, if anyone could point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.
Kindest,

Hello,
How do I add a component on the same process? I want to add and copy components on the same rule. Also, the 6 stories are created from a manually trigger automation.
So, user triggers the manual automation to create stories under his epic, stories should take the components from the epic, and add another one for these specific stories.

Ok, let's describe it in steps:
Is it right?

Hello :)
1. I have Epic with components
2. User manually triggers automation to create Stories under this Epic.
3. Stories should copy the components from the Epic AND add a specific components to these new automatically created stories.
Basically, I want to Set AND Add components. Sorry if i wasnt clear.

Understood. Then split process of setting Components in two steps.
And while setting of components from Epic use another type of setting field value. "Add to existing values"

yeah, I understand this. But since the rule is created automatically, it will add to a blank field, and in this case, "copy from" would be enough.
Since the 6 stories are created with automation, the user cannot add a Component on the create screen, since this step is bypassed.
In my create issue automation, I cannot add and update the component field at the same time. I tried copy from epic and in the more section, add a JSON and use an "ADD script" to add the required component.

On my last screen with rule process - third step makes right what you want. It sets component to story not from Epic. Then, next step - adds Component from Epic.
Component for Stories, that you want to set (not from Epic), is fixed, or it can be different?
If component fixed, then my process should make what you want

Hi Evgeniy,
It is not working because my condition can only be based on the summary, and I am not a fan of having a JQL search run on every create trigger. I also Create 6 issues off my manual rule, so, making I rule per issue trigger is fugly.
I was thinking of adding a JSON in the "more option" of my create issues manual trigger but I cannot seem to have this work either.
Anyway, thanks for your help,
