Did you mean:

Copy select list (multiple choices) field by automation rule from parent

Hi

I am trying to copy the value of select list (multiple choices) from epic to story child once it created, and linked to a parent issue.

Should be easy but it's not working (the audit log complete succesfully without error)

Here is the rule:

While the "Description" is copied  from the parent to the new issue as expected, the custom field which is selected list (multichoices) is not.

Any idea ? is it a problem with the custom field type ?

Hi @Gal Fatal

The Issue Created trigger can fire so quickly that some of the issue data may not be available to the rule when it starts.  The symptom of this is other rule components do not work as expected...for example: perhaps the parent field is empty.

The work-around to check if this is causing the symptom is to always add the Re-fetch Issue action immediately after the Issue Created trigger.  This will slow down the rule, reloading the data before proceeding.  Perhaps try adding that and retest.

Kind regards,
Bill

Hi @Gal Fatal

What does the audit log say? did you check?

I would also check if the custom field has a context that may not display for the child issue.

Fabian
