I'm using a template issue to make the creation of our tickets as streamlined as possible. The only thing missing is copying an excel sheet I have in the template issue over to any new issues created from it.
I've looked around for any way to copy the attachment from that template to any new issue, but they all require them to be linked in some way. I was wondering if there's any way to put in something like a post function on a ticket creation that would essentially point to that template issue and copy it to the new one, without having to establish that they're linked in the ticket (cloned, blocked by, sub task, relates to, etc). The template issue is rather messy and confusing so I would rather the team that would use it not be able to see the contents of it in it's entirety.
How are you cloning the issue?
In Cloud, when I clone an issue there's an option to "Clone Attachments" which a user can check to include them.
Are you using an alternative method to clone other than Options > Clone when looking at an issue?

Hello @Ste Wright
I'm using a Jira Template. Essentially a dummy ticket that contains all the information needed and can be selected when creating a new Jira ticket which then populates all the fields/values of the dummy ticket into the new ticket. What it unfortunately doesn't copy are attachments from the dummy ticket.

Do you know what application that utilises? Templates aren't a default option in Jira - so there must be an app which is in play here.

Hello @Ste Wright
Yes, it's called "Issue Templates for Jira" but I was unable to find any way to copy over the attachments using it. Which is why I was wondering if there was any way to do so via a post function.

I can't locate anything regarding this option in the vendor's help documents - perhaps worth contacting their support team in the first instance. You can details on how to contact them via the support tab in Marketplace
Aside from that, there are apps which can create post-functions for adding attachments or cloning issues with them - such as this option from ScriptRunner.
