Create a board consuming from 2 different projects

Pablo Ponce January 17, 2024

I created a new board, the board is set to consume from 2 sources:

1. a Discovery Project

2. a Service Project

So far I am only able to see the tickets coming from the Discovery Board, what may I be missing?

Thank you

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Yes.  Boards are backed by a saved filter, and for some types of board, you can edit the filters.

From scratch, you would

  • Run a search like "project in (ABC, DEF)"
  • Save it as a filter
  • Go to a Jira Software project and create a new board
  • Tell it to base the board on your new filter

For an existing one, you probably just need to change the filter!

Thank you, it worked

I got to show the 2 types of projects, for some reason the filter counts more than 1000, but on the board I only see 74, any ideas?

A board is a view of a set of issues, defined by the board filter, but most people use boards to show only work that the team needs to actively work on.

Boards can be divided into two - the board and the backlog (Scrum boards always have a backlog, it's optional in Kanban, but recommended).  The backlog contains stuff you have not yet chosen to start on, and its main use is to rank (prioritise) what needs doing, refine the stories, and in Scrum, estimate and size them so you can draw the right amount into the next sprint.

Finally, boards do not show issues that need no more attention.  That is they are "done" at the end of a sprint, and released in Kanban (Kanban releases are usually "fix version applied", but it is flexible)

Oh, and also check that all status from the workflows in both projects are mapped into columns on the board.
