The create button does not add issue to the board, but it does add it the the issues. I have checked the mapping and filters and its not that. If i create the issue in a column it is created as expected.
Very weird issue. Any help would be most appreciated.

Hello @Matthew Barber
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
With what type of project are you working? Get that information from the Type column on the View All Projects page under the Projects menu.
If you are working with a Software project are you working with a Kanban board or a Scrum board?
What type of issues are you creating? Some issue types don't display as cards on boards for some project and board types.
I see in one of your other replies you indicated you are using a Team Managed project.
Is it a Software, Business, or Service Management project?
If it is Software, is the board a Scrum or Kanban board? If it is a Kanban board, do you have the Backlog option enabled?
In a Team Managed Software project, if the Backlog feature is enabled then issues created using the Create button from the menu bar will automatically be added to the Backlog issue list on the Backlog screen. This is separate from the list of issues displayed on the Board. If you have the Backlog enabled and you want an issue immediately displayed on the board when you create it, you would need to use the +Create issue option shown at the bottom of the columns in the Board view or at the bottom of the Board list on the Backlog screen.

You said:
OK so it appears as though any change of status e.g. DONE back to BACKLOG does not work.
What do you mean it doesn't work? Do you not have the option to change the issue status? Are you getting an error message?

No error messages it just goes in to the backlog....hang on perhaps its because it setup as a sprint board can it just adds to the backlog and not the backlog column on the board.
I just saw that it has the sprint option.

I'm not understanding what action you are actually trying to execute when you say
OK so it appears as though any change of status e.g. DONE back to BACKLOG does not work.
If your board is a Scrum board, only the issues in active/started sprints will display in the Board view. All other not-done issues will display only in the Backlog screen. That is the intended design of a Scrum board. Changing the status of an issue is not going to change whether or not it appears in the Board view for a Scrum board.

@Matthew Barber It sounds like the issue may be related to either the board’s filter criteria or status mapping.
First, double-check the board filter and sub-filter settings to ensure newly created issues meet the criteria to appear on the board; sometimes, even a simple sub-filter can unintentionally exclude issues.
Secondly verify the status mapping in Board Settings to make sure each status in the workflow is mapped to a column—if the initial status of a new issue isn’t mapped, it won’t appear on the board.
Additionally, consider if there might be any project-level automation rules or post-functions impacting the initial status or placement of newly created issues.

Please can you share a few more insights into the Mapping and filters?
Board is usually reflects the issues instantly, can you check if refreshing the page shows the issue after that? If yes, then it maybe a bug in the UI.

To be honest, it’s a really simple board with 6 columns and some automation that I stripped out. Filters are basic (high priority, etc.). I’ve tried everything, and it just won’t work. When I create an issue, it gets moved to the ‘All Issues’ but won’t get added to a column. All fields are viewable, and there are no specific rules.

Would it be possible to share an image of the board's filter, and the ticket being created, also the column setup? It would help identify the setup better.

Hi, thanks for getting in touch. Some screenshots are attached. It’s just such a weird issue; perhaps re-indexing might trigger it to sort itself out. I’m using a team-managed software project.

This could be due to a missing transition in the workflow, a permission issue, or the Resolution field needing to be cleared. Check your workflow settings, permissions, and resolution requirements to identify the problem.
Did you manage to solve the first problem?
