We currently have a custom field named Risk/Impact/Cost that is a Text Field (multi-line) that is used for several projects. I was hoping Context could help this out but I am struggling.
The initial ask is that the project wants Risk/Cost and not impact in there.
I tried adding Context for the project specific but it appears that it only affects the values and not the field label. I believe I have to rename the field in Custom Fieldsand cause issues with the several other projects.
I did update the description in Field Configuration to describe what they want for it. It is an issue with the label. I did run across this picture below for Custom fields in JIRA Server but it probably is still applicable for JIRA cloud.
Hello @Brian Haskins
I don't think there is a built in feature to set the label for a field to different values based on context/project.
When I worked with JIRA Data Center I used Behaviors from the Adaptavist Scriptrunner app to do that. I don't have that app at my current employer where we use JIRA Cloud. I'm not sure if Scriptrunner supports the same feature for JIRA Cloud.
Hi Brian,
Just to clarify, you wrote, "The initial ask is that the project wants Risk/Cost and not impact in there." Do they want to just hide the impact field, or do they want to rename it?
Hiding a field can be accomplished with field configuration schemes. Renaming a field can only be done at the global level.
I may be barking up the wrong tree here, but does their desire to rename the field suggest to you that they actually want a different custom field? Could you give them a copy of the impact field?

We have a custom field labeled "Risk/Impact/Cost" that is used across several projects currently. The user wanted that field to say just "Risk/Cost" and I didn't want to create a new custom field since we have almost 200 customs. Risk/Cost is the same definition as Risk/Impact/Cost without the word Impact in the field label.
