Unable to see the project (type Software) in Custom Field, Global Context... Even though the field is added to the Issue Type layout, it does not appear on screen.
Thought is it context issue. But the context screen, does not list the project itself.
Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
If a field has a global context, then the problem is with the screens, field configuration, or layout. For a company-managed project, look to the screens and field configuration, for a team-managed project, check the issue's field layouts. (Note that for company-managed projects, it's only recently that global custom fields became available, and that only ones with a global context can be used, you can't set a custom field to have a context of a team-managed project)
I am having this same problem.
A custom field cannot be added to a Software project due to the context. However, when I try to add the project to the context, the project isn't in the list of projects to select from.

I have a similar problem. I'm trying to have two different contexts for the same Jira project. It's not working. When I use the Jira project in one context, it doesn't show up as an option to choose in the second context.

Projects do not belong to field contexts.
A field context defines what projects and/or issue types a field is valid for.
I suspect you may be running into a data problem, rather than Jira limitations. Contexts cannot be mixed up, because it would let you define contexts that say that a field is valid for a project/issue-type, but not valid for it at the same time.
To help walk through this problem, we need to see what your contexts are (please obscure any data you might worry about leaking, like project name/key. As long as we can identify which project/issue-type are in use and what the context is)
