Custom fields from external database in Jira CLOUD

Deleted user May 21, 2018

Hi,

I need to create some custom fields with information from external database. I found some add-on that do this, but only works for Jira server.

Is there any add-on to work with external database in Jira Cloud.

Hi there!

Integrating external database information into Jira Cloud custom fields is a common need. While Jira doesn’t offer this functionality natively, there are effective solutions available, such as our app Elements Connect for Jira Cloud.

This app allows you to fetch and display data from various external sources directly within Jira custom fields.

Key features of Elements Connect:

  • Connect to multiple external sources, including:
    • SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, etc.)
    • REST APIs
    • CRMs and directories like Salesforce, HubSpot, and LDAP
  • Dynamic custom fields that fetch real-time data based on issue context
  • Field dependencies for cascading select lists and structured data organization
  • Customizable display to format and present external data clearly in Jira

For a step-by-step setup guide, check out the official documentation.

By leveraging Elements Connect, you can bridge the gap between Jira and your external data sources, streamlining workflows and enhancing productivity.

You can try Elements Connect for free on the Atlassian Marketplace. Let me know if you have any questions!

It looks pretty awesome, how much will it be? I would love to help beta test but if its outside what my company can afford it would be better to know up front.

Thank you

Can you access this database through a webservice?

If it is - you might have a look at the table grid editor for cloud.  It allows to connect with a webservice and display this information in a grid.

Check the documentation here

There is now a Jira cloud App called  "External Data for Jira Fields".

It allows you to synchronise your external endpoints with custom fields either directly on the issue or with option fields on a dropdown.

Maybe this helps you solve that issue, if you are still looking for an answer.
