Customization on JIRA Velocity Report

Kinjal Patel August 27, 2020

Hello

I have a question related to the Valocity report. Current I have below status on sprint board

  1. TODO
  2. In Development
  3. In QA
  4. Business validation
  5. Ready to deploy
  6. Completed

I would like to calculate velocity based on below:

  • Commitment for the velocity calculation would be tasks in (1.TO Do -4. Business Validation)
  • Completed stories would be the Stories that moved to "Ready to deploy"

DO you think there is a way to achieve this in JIRA?

Velocity is a measure of how a team is performing in terms of how much it gets done against what the team committed to delivering in a specific time-box.

This is quite a simple measure - it's basically "done" vs "not done" at the end of the time-box.

Jira considers only the last column on a board as "done"

You can do what you want in the boards - put both "ready to deploy" and "completed" in the last column on the board.

Thank you for the suggestion let me try doing that

This worked actually. Thanks so much

Thanks to this response I was finally able to make my reports work.

Since I did not have the DONE as the last column on my board, my Velocity Reports stopped working and the Sprints did not identify the DONE tasks as "completed" and tried moving them to the next Sprint or to the backlog.

In other words, thank you!

Hi,
Just wondering if Jira did any improvement on this behavior?

As a user am I able to configure that QA done, RC is considered completed user stories instead of just the Done column?

Thank you!
