Different Task Board under same Project?

glenn andreas samuelsen September 23, 2021

Greetnigs,

Is it possible to create two (or more) different Task Boards under the same project?

we are going into a new phase wher it would make sense to alter the set-up.

Gr8 if anyone can tell:)

Hi Glenn,

Yes you can create multiple board it can be combination of kanban and Scrum as well under single project. You can alter the board query to display the issues on board

Thanks for your reply Shruti:)

I actually figured it out.

So there is a created project. Made prior to me taking up the role as SCRUM master. The project is set up as company managed.

In the Story Board for SPRINT 1 through 4, the columns read: To do - In Progress - Impediment Deploy to Production -  Review - Done

For SPRINT 5 I would like to make a new Story Board, that has a new delienation of the columns. I.e.: To Do - In process -  Technical review - Testing by Sales - Done.

The answer was having admin rights:() So esy. Sinse I didnt have that, I didnt get teh optio to change the Story Board Column naming.

Ajåååå - how easy:))

Hello @glenn andreas samuelsen

Welcome to the community.

Are you working with a Company Managed project or a Team Managed project?

You can make agile boards using Saved Filters, where the saved filters reference whatever subset of issues you wish, and in that way you can make multiple boards for a project. However, when you create a Team Managed project specifically, Jira automatically creates a board for that project. Those boards behave slightly differently than the ones you would make from a saved filter, because the functionality available in Team Managed projects is different than what is available in Company Managed projects.

If you have been and are working with Company managed projects, then the boards you make from saved filters behave consistently.

If you make a board from a save filter that references a Team Managed project, the board will not function quite the same as the board that is automatically generated for a Team Managed project.

Thanks Trudy:)

How can I create a new Story Board like this? I.e. under the same project?

I dont quite understand yoru reference to the filters.

I can do a work-around, create a new project (Team Managed), then create a new Story Board as described above, then import the backlog from the existing project. But then I losse the epic links.....

Is the work-around the only way?

If so, how can the epic links be kept? If possible at all?

Can a new and altered Story Board be created in an existing project (Company managed) ?

If you could elaborate around the filter methodolgy - Gr8!

Hi Glenn - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

You can create multiple boards, but the process is a little different depending on the type of project. Can you share more details?
