Display powerBi in JIRA

Good Afternoon all,

So it is obvious that you can export from Jira to powerBi, but how about the other way around.

We have a powerBi page that our customers use to have an overview on backorders and dates, now we would like to create a platform that shows the backorders from the powerBi page (per customer) and if a questions excists the can create a ticket/question. 

The source for powerBi is Microsoft Dynamics AX2012 - for the future we are looking at implementing dynamics 365.

Hi Diet,

Welcome to the Atlassian Community! And, great question.

Let's start with the bad news...

No standard functionality, or connector, currently exists to connect PowerBI -> Jira.

Yet, as you already know, there are ways to go from Jira -> Power BI.

I checked with developers of "Power BI Connector for Jira", and they confirmed that their app assists with extracting information FROM Jira into PowerBI, but that there is no possibility of connecting Power BI back to Jira.

Microsoft has a list of default connectors for Power BI, and Atlassian Jira is not listed:

Now, some good news.

Both Jira and Power BI provide REST API connectors. I recommend you explore the possibility of creating an application within Power BI's Developer Portal that would enable you to then connect into Jira vis REST API and create tickets in Jira. Atlassian provides documentation on how to use the REST API to create a ticket within Jira:

After you have created an app for Power BI -> Jira, you may find others who are also interested in such an app.

Great, thank you! I wish I would have had better news for you, though.

Also, marking the post as being answered helps with properly noting whether an issue is still open or not. I know for myself (and I believe a number of the Atlassian Community Leaders) --- I will generally search through all the open tickets and filter to the ones that have not yet been answered to see which tickets I may be able to help someone with.
