Do I have to recreate all of my configuration for each added organizations products

Robert Kneip January 31, 2024

I have a very robust instance that took me months to build. My company wants to duplicate it for use on another project. I thought of migration to a new instance but see I can have multiple organizations.

if I add a new organization and add products to it. Do those products inherit all of the same field screen issue type and workflows from my base instance or are they completely new servers and I have to migrate the configuration or start all of ver from scratch for each organization I create.

Hello @Robert Kneip

If you create a new Atlassian Cloud Organization and add products to it, those are completely separate instances of those projects initialized to the default configuration. They do not inherit any information from other products in other sites within the same organization or other organizations.

You could investigate a cloud-to-cloud migration to copy projects from one organization/site/product to another organization/site/product. I've not done that migration before, but I've been told that not everything migrates, so I can't say definitively that all the configurations you set up would be copied during that process.

Thank you this is as I thought. Restoring a backup of an existing instance to a new site works well if you do it correctly I have done this successfully by not the full migration. I will try it and post the findings
