Does an unresolved resolution on a no longer required ticket impact if a sprint can be closed

I tried to close a sprint this morning and was told that there were subtasks that had not been completed.  The only subtasks that were not done were ones that were no longer required.  Does the resolution field have to be Done on No longer required tickets in order to be able to close a sprint?

Hi @Shari Fitz-Patrick,

Resolution does not impact Jira's understanding of complete/incomplete when it comes to closing sprints. On a scrum board, issues are considered completed if they are in the rightmost column of the board.

If you have any issues (sub-tasks) sitting in a different column on the board, those are the ones that will be considered incomplete. So, to get rid of the issues and be able to complete the sprint properly, move those issues to the rightmost column of your board. And ideally, set the resolution to "Won't fix" or something along those lines.

On a side note: filling out the resolution IS very important when you close issues, but it is not the reason of the message you are getting when trying to complete your sprint .

Hope this helps!

Thank you.  I thought that this had no impact on closing the sprint.  However someone on the team is adamant that it is.

I have the status for tickets not needed as NOT REQUIRED and the resolution if UNRESOLVED
