Does removing stories from the sprint during the sprint affect the Commitment bar in Velocity Chart?

Paul Clapton October 18, 2018

I was just looking at this description relating to the Velocity Chart report:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirasoftwarecloud/velocity-chart-777002731.html

Can someone please verify if stories that are removed from the sprint affect the 'Commitment' bar in the velocity chart? For example if you remove a story from the sprint after the sprint is started will it reduce the commitment bar dynamically? Does the gray commitment bar remain static after the sprint is started regardless of any changes to stories?

Cheers

Hi Paul,

If you remove a story (e.g. if you move it back to the backlog) after the sprint has started, the original commitment will be preserved.

This is an example:

1) I create an sprint where I committed to 3 stories for a total of 24 points

2) I moved CPO-6 out of the sprint back to the backlog, and the work scope changed from 24 to 21 points (CPO-6 was 3 points)

3) When I close the sprint, the original commitment (24 points) shows in the grey bar:

Hope it helps,

Carlos
