Does the new Anonymize User feature in Jira work with instances using LDAP?

John Tocco February 13, 2020

We are currently not on Jira version 8.7 but will be moving to it in the near future. The Anonymize User feature is intriguing to us and could help solve some issues we face.

Our instance of Jira users LDAP for authentication which is one of the issues we have when trying to remove old users in Jira.

Can this new feature be used with LDAP authentication?

Thanks!

Hi,

we made an upgrade to 8.7.1 on Monday & I tested the Anonymize User feature with a user who left the company.

The user was disabled in LDAP/Active Directory and as such shown in Jira: USER NAME(Inactive)

I then anonimized the user. I got some warnings as the user was component lead in some projects, but after fixing this by swapping to another user, everything went smooth.

Any references to the user are now shown with an anonymized user id.

Best

Thanks for the prompt response JP, much appreciated! I look forward to having access to this feature when we upgrade.
