Not sure if we're doing something wrong here but it seems like items that are 'Done' after a sprint return to the backlog and show as Done. It tends to be confusing as we go to prioritize. Is that how it's supposed to work or is there a setting or something?
Not clear to me if this is recurring so I am going to close it for now.
At the end of a sprint, Jira will consider only the issues in the column farthest to the right in your board as "complete". Issues in any other column will be considered "incomplete" and you will be prompted to move those to another sprint or to the backlog.
You can have multiple statuses mapped to a column, so this means you need to have all the status that represent "completed" work mapped to the right-most column.
Can you share with us the screen that shows the mapping of issue statuses to columns for your board?

Right, I know that. But it seemed like some of the Done ones went back into the backlog. I need to check with the person who spotted this. Let me do that and hold this open for a bit. Could have been a misread. Will advise.

Also check it those issues had incomplete Sub-tasks. Issues with incomplete Sub-tasks will also be considered incomplete.

Oh, you know what? I bet that's it. I will check. Thanks.

Hello !
In addition, have you set a resolution on the transition of closure ? I'm not sure it'll fix you problem but it can definitly help since after this you can update the query for your backlog page to not include any of the issue with a resolution !
Hope this can help !
