A few weeks ago we started getting reports from a few users that some (but not all) Select List fields were taking a long time to display their options and/or to let you select from the list that's being displayed. Essentially the browser hangs momentarily. Sometimes, an error dialog will appear with the option to click Wait to continue to wait for it to completely load.
Some users see this issue in both Edge and Chrome, while some see it in Edge but not in Chrome. Other users, including myself, don't see any problem -- regardless of browser, the dropdown fields work fine.
We are currently on Jira Server 8.6.1 and there haven't been any significant changes to our instance in some time. The most recent change was to upgrade the version of Apache Tomcat within the 8.6.1 install in order to remediate known vulnerabilities (this is a somewhat routine activity for us and has always worked without incident).
Any idea why some (but not all) Select List fields would be slow to respond when a user clicks to see the list of options? Since it only happens for some users, it seems like it might be external to Jira but haven't identified any common trait among the users who see the issue.
To follow up, it seems like one common factor for many of the users who see this problem is that they are using Amazon Workspace. I'm not sure this is true of every user who sees this issue, though.
Hi David,
We had a similar issue and found it linked to Chrome v89. Also found https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-72280 on Atlassians' bug list.
