Duplicate issues created when using components

kchoi August 22, 2022

Duplicate issues created when using components. I am using automation and using 3 components and I am getting duplicate issues. How can I combined them all into one issue? How can fix this? It used to not do this previously.

Hi @kchoi

Can you share your rule?

What is the trigger for the rule? You are only showing part of the rule.

kchoi August 22, 2022

@John Funk how do I show the whole trigger? Is below it?

So does the Sub-task that initially gets created have a Component in it?

kchoi August 22, 2022

I believe so please see the screen shot below

That is checking the parent issue. But the sub-task that gets created - does it have a component in it?

kchoi August 22, 2022

I don't think it has a component in it

So, what issues are getting duplicated?

kchoi August 22, 2022

this issue gets created two more timesScreen Shot 2022-08-22 at 12.50.04 PM.png

So it is creating 3 sub-tasks?

Do you have other automations firing that might be cloning or creating the sub-tasks?

One way to check is to execute the rule and then go to the global automation audit log to see which rules actually fired.

Does this need to be enabled? Maybe this is the problem...

No, it shouldn't be creating them in the first place. You can turn it on, but it is not solving the problem. Do you do what I suggested above?

kchoi August 22, 2022

@John Funk yes I see several components that I did not select popping up.

Did you look at the audit log to see if there was more than one rule firing at that time that could have created the extra issues?

kchoi August 23, 2022

@John Funk yes I see several rules firing

So maybe one of those is creating the extra issues?

kchoi August 24, 2022

I don't see how where the Components are connected with the other rules that are firing.

you probably just need to open a support ticket with Atlassian.

https://support.atlassian.com/contact/#/

Please post back here with the resolution so future readers and see.

Hi @kchoi ,

Can you show us how you set up the automation rule (trigger, condition, action)?
